BitNet01 Festival – 2019

BitNet Festival 2019 was the first edition of the festival organized by the BitNet01 crew, held on January 19 and 20, 2019, at the Grizzly self-managed space in Fano (Marche, Italy). The first edition, which focused on experimentation, was the natural starting point of our journey. Here is a small excerpt of what we had written between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 when the idea of BitNet01 was forming and taking shape in the organization of our first festival:

“BitNet01 is audiovisual experimentation, multimedia and interactive installations, live electronics performances, workshops, computer music, post-modern and creative experimentation.”

During this first edition of the festival, mainly artists, DIY makers, performers, and musicians from the areas surrounding Fano/Pesaro (Italy) and the city of Bologna (Italy) participated. In the first edition, we tried to encompass all the major activities that still affect us and see us in action: workshops, multimedia and interactive installations, illustrative exhibitions, live electronics, interactive media, experimental music, and audiovisual performances (AV). During this first edition, the multimedia installations by the collective Clon_E, by Noemi Bigelli, and the illustrative exhibition by Edoardo Maccari were always present. The AV performances presented during the two nights of the festival were different, such as “Four Spectra” by Luis Braschi and Filippo Gualazzi, the DIY noise by Fra Zedde, and the new live of experimental music realized by Paolo Tarsi on Saturday night, while “Noumeno” by Matteo Tomasetti, Francesco Casanova and Eugenio Manuelli, Fluxwarp aka Tommy Vecchiarelli and the collective “So Beast” from Bologna (Italy) on Sunday night.

The workshops presented in this first edition were created by Fra Zedde (“Terror Transmission Device – Fai da Noise Radio Edition” aka #NoInputMixing #CircuitBending) and Filippo Gualazzi (TouchDesigner: Interactive Design & Live Media Performance).
